Lahore:

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq said Saturday that the toss played a role in his team's 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series against England. "The pitches favor bowlers on the fourth and fifth days and it gives advantage to the team which bowls last,'' Inzamam said. "The toss has its value on such wickets.'' Inzamam won the toss in both Test matches and his bowlers put England on the ropes on the last days of the first Test at Multan and again in the second Test at Faisalabad. Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria ran through England's top order on the last day of the first Test as the home team recorded a sensational 22-run win after setting a modest target of 198 runs. Fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Rana Naved claimed six wickets between them before England escaped with a draw in Faisalabad after reeling at 20-4 at one stage in pursuit of its 285-run victory target. "In the fourth innings it's difficult for batters and I think the trend will continue in the third Test,'' Inzamam said. The third Test begins in the eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday. (AP)
