Melbourne:

The two spin wizards, Muralitharan and Warne patched up on Thursday at the unveiling ceremony of the Warne-Muralitharan Trophy after a harsh war of words recently.

They described the entire episode a case of "miscommunication".

Shane Warne commented on Muttiah Muralitharan while the latter called Warne a "miserable man".

The controversy started after Warne, in his column for a newspaper, suggested that Muralitharan's action be tested in match conditions, which infuriated the Sri Lankan.

"There is no issue at all. I thought he said something about my bowling action and then I said he was a miserable man," Muralitharan was quoted as saying by The Melbourne
Herald Sun
.

"We just talked to each other and patched it up. It was a miscommunication more than anything else," he added, seeking to put an end to the controversy.

The off-spinner though seems to have had enough, in a rare show of retaliation, Murali hit out at Shane Warne, who said the Lankan spinner should be tested under match conditions and not in laboratories.

Murali had said that he would not speak to Warne during the unveiling of the Warne-Muralitharan trophy before the second test at Hobart.

And maybe it is the fact that he is about to pass Warne's record that has prompted the Aussie to suggest another test.

Though Muralitharan stands on the threshold of breaking Warne's record of highest Test wickets, but he is certainly not in a happy frame of mind.

There has been intense speculation over whether Murali would tour Australia or not following racial abuse on previous tours, now the questions over his bowling action have returned to haunt him.

This is not the first time Warne has questioned Murali's credentials, having said on an earlier occasion that the Sri Lankan has the good fortune of taking cheap wickets against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
