The stand-off between the BCCI and chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar reached a flash point on Thursday with the board issuing a show cause notice to him.

New Delhi:

After days of defiance, chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar finally relented on Thursday and assured BCCI President Sharad Pawar that he will not write any more columns.

This after the cricket board said they would issue a show cause notice to the chairman of selectors.

The notice came after the Board observed that Vengsarkar had continued to write his columns in at least two newspapers, the marathi daily Sakaal, and the Hindi Amar Ujala, despite the Board's directive not to do so.

BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told the media at the Ferozeshah Kotla that after Vengsarkar's assurance to Pawar, the board was treating this issue as having been resolved.
