Colombo:

India's pacer Ishant Sharma said the wicket at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) is a dead patch as Sri Lankan batsmen feasted on the Indian attack on the second day of the first cricket Test on Thursday.

Three Sri Lankan batsmen hit centuries to help the hosts pile a massive 422 for four at the close of play.

Ishant, who picked up two for 97, admitted that the bowlers will have a tough day's work Friday. "We didn't get too much luck going our way. There's nothing in the wicket now and all you can do is to bowl in the right areas," he said.

Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene, who went on to make his 23rd Test hundred and the fourth against India, said SSC has indeed been a lucky venue for him. "I wasn't thinking of any record. It's a very friendly venue for me. I have been playing 12 years of first class cricket here. Once you get settled, it's easy to go on."

Thilan Samaraweera, the third man to reach a century besides Malinda Warnapura (115), and Jayawardene, said: "My game has changed over the past 20 months or so. My attitude of scoring runs has changed and that has helped me. This is my sixth first class hundred on this venue."
