T20 tournament schedule announced

Islamabad, Pakistan:

Pakistan will take on Canada in the opening match of next month's Toronto Twenty20 cricket tournament, according to the program unveiled on Wednesday by organizers.

Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe are the other teams in the four-nation tournament that runs Oct. 10-13.

The Toronto event will be the first major cricket tournament for Pakistan since July, when it hosted the Asia Cup.

The International Cricket Council had to postpone the Champions Trophy in Pakistan this month when South Africa announced it would withdraw and other teams, including Australia, England and New Zealand, expressed security concerns over traveling to Pakistan.

"We hope the Twenty20 tournament will be a big success and be an annual affair," said tournament organizer Nauman Nabi.

All teams play each other in the single league format with top two advancing to the Oct. 13 final.
