Still chance to wrap series: Harbhajan

Kolkata:

Misbah-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal may have propped up Pakistan with twin tons but India's star off-spinner Harbhajan Singh asserts the hosts still have the upper hand in the second Test and they would like to wrap up the series.

"We have been very much in the game all the time. We have a good chance to win this match. We want to finish off the series here," said Harbhajan, who emerged as the most successful Indian bowler with 3/83 in the unfinished Pakistan first innings at the Eden Gardens.

Asked to rate India's chances of enforcing the follow on, he said the first session on the third day tomorrow would be crucial.

"Four important wickets in the Pakistan innings still remain. The First task before us tomorrow is to get these four wickets and enforce the follow-on. But we need wickets faster for a result," he said.

Pakistan finished the day at 358/6, still needing another 59 runs to avoid the shame of a follow-on.
Harbhajan praised Misbah-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal, who stitched together a 207-run record partnership at the Eden Gardens to boost Pakistan's chances of avoiding the follow-on.

"These two Pakistan batsmen played very well. All credit to them. At the start of play today they didn't know the pace of the wicket. Later they got the hang of the pitch and began batting well," Harbhajan said.

"We just needed one wicket. But the two batted superbly."

On Akmal, he said, "Kamran got a good 100. He also got good hundreds in Mohali (2004-05) and Karachi (2005-06) against us. But the hundred at Lahore (2005-06) was not so special."

Asked if India were having problems tackling Misbah, Harbhajan said, "He bats well on slow wickets. He has not played much of international cricket and that is the key. But soon we will get to know his weaknesses. In the long term will will know him better. And then we have to see how he performs."

Spelling out the team strategy for the day, Harbhajan said, "We were looking for wickets and we had to bowl to the field. All four bowlers bowled well."

The Punjab off-spinner said he was not disappointed with the track, but felt that the wicket should have more pace and carry.

"You got to bowl on all wickets. Thoda pace and carry hona chahiye."

Lauding Anil Kumble's captaincy, he said the leggie made good moves.

Harbhajan also did not agree that the two of them had bowled less in tandem.
