Australia (577) posted their best total in India, surpassing their 574 for 7 wickets declared in the 1986-87 Chennai Test. Australia's total is their second best against India -their best is 674 in the 1947-48 Adelaide Test. Virender Sehwag registered his best bowling performance in Tests - his first instance of five wickets in an innings. Sehwag became the only cricketer to have two triple hundreds and a five-wicket haul. Sehwag is now the fourth spinner to bag five wickets in an innings against Australia at New Delhi. He has joined Bishan Singh Bedi (5/37 in 1969-70), Erapalli Prasanna (5/42 in 1969-70) and Kumble (5/67 in 1996-97) Michael Clarke (112) hit his third Test century - his eighth Test overall. Thanks to his hundred, he is averaging 44.20 in the series - 221 in five innings. Five Australian batsmen - Hayden, Katich, Ponting, Hussey and Clarke have recorded fifty-plus in a Test innings against India for the first time. Clarke and Watson were associated in a stand of 73 for the fifth wicket - Australia's best stand at the Feroz Shah Kotla, surpassing the 67 between Steve Waugh and Michael Bevan in 1996-97. Cameron White and Clarke were associated in a stand of 106 - Australia's best ever partnership for the seventh wicket against India in India. White (44) registered his highest score in Test Cricket, eclipsing his 18 not out in the first Test at Bangalore.
