New Delhi: Statistical highlights on the secod day of the second Test between India and England on Saturday.
Rahul Dravid completed his 26th Test hundred on Day 2 of the Mohali Test. This was his second hundred at the PCA Stadium on Saturday. This was Dravid fourth hundred against England and his first against them on the Indian soil. This was his second century of the year that came after 19 innings. His last ton came in March against South Africa earlier. Gautam Gambhir (1037) became the fourth Indian to complete 1000 Test runs in the calendar. Other three batsmen to achieve this feat are - Virender Sehwag (1445), VVS Laxman (1071) and Sachin Tendulkar (1047). Gambhir and Rahul Dravid were associated in a second wicket partnership of 314, India's second best ever stand against England for any wicket in Tests, next only to the 316 between Gundappa Viswanath and Yashpal Sharma for the third wicket at Chepauk in 1981-82. Dravid, with the 314-run stand with Gambhir, became the first Indian to be associated in a four 300-plus century partnerships - the previous three being 410 with Virender Sehwag against Pakistan at Lahore in 2005-06.
