Sreesanth declared unfit for Asia Cup

New Delhi:

Pacer S Sreesanth on Tuesday was ruled out of the Asia Cup starting from June 24 in Pakistan as he has not fully recovered from the left external oblique injury sustained during the Indian Premier League.

He failed a fitness test conducted by the BCCI physiotherapist Paul Close at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

He has been advised to undergo a two-week rehabilitation programme before he fully recovers from his injury.

His bowling rehab programme will start from June 23.

Sreesanth, who was carrying an injury from the IPL, had also missed the three-nation cricket series in Bangladesh.

he had apparently strained his left side while playing for Kings XI Punjab in the last league game against Rajasthan Royals in Mohali on May 28.

Punjab pacer MS Gony was sent to Bangladesh as his replacement for the tri-series. With Sreesanth out of contention, it will be interesting to see if selectors give Gony a second chance.
