Dhaka:

South Africa moved to the top of the world's one-day rankings with an easy seven-wicket win over Bangladesh on Friday that sealed a series sweep for the tourists.

Paceman Albie Morkel claimed 4-29 before captain Graeme Smith struck an unbeaten half century as South Africa chased down the meager target of 144 with more than 15 overs to spare.

Smith led from the front, hitting 68 runs off 94 balls with three sixes, including the clubbing shot that ended the match. Smith's 38th limited-overs half century took him past 5,000 runs in one-day internationals.

The captain got solid support from A.B. de Villiers who scored a confident 40 off 37 balls, including seven boundaries.

All three South Africa wickets fell to the spinners who got help from the turning pitch.
