Somdevv stuns Karlovic to reach Chennai Open semis

Somdev Devvraman pulled off the biggest win of his career first upsetting Ivo Karlovic in the quarterfinals of $450,000 ATP Chennai Open.

Somdev Devvraman on Friday pulled off the biggest win of his career first upsetting Ivo Karlovic in the quarterfinals of $450,000 ATP Chennai Open. Somdev dumped Karlovic 7-6, 6-4 to enter semis.

This win has made Somdev first Indian to reach Chennai Open semis since Leander Paes in 1998.

Earlier, Somdev defeated former French Open champion Carlos Moya in the second round.

The 22-year old US collegiate champion overcame a first set lapse to shock Moya, a double champion here, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a grueling two hours and 11 minute contest.

This is also for the first time that Somdev has reached the last-eight stage of an ATP event.
