Shoaib Akhtar may be ruthless with his opponents on the pitch but off the field he is as kind and generous as can be.

The Rawalpindi express spent his Friday morning with children from the Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity in Chandigarh

"I keep coming for charities from time to time. I've been to Mumbai quite often for charities and it always feels good, you feel touched by these people. You realize how precious a healthy life is," said Shoaib.

This may be Shoaib Akhtar's first charity visit in India but this is not a new avtar for the bowler. Shoaib has already done a lot of charity work for kids in Pakistan and Australia.

"Everyone is spending Diwali in their own way, some people are watching Sawariya and Om Shanti Om. Since I've come to India I have only seen news about Pakistan or Om Shanti Om on TV," he said.

He said he wanted to come back on charity mission to light the lamp of life for these deprived souls.
