Rajkot:

Security arrangements are being stepped up at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground for the first One-Day International match to be played between India and England on November 14.

Nearly 1500 security personnel including two SPS and 60 State Reserve Police (SRP) men would be deployed at the stadium to monitor views activities during the match, City Police Commissioner, Sudhir Sinha, told PTI.

He said the views would be allowed carrying water bottle and food packets only after passing through the scanner.

The commissioner said that in view of threats from terror outfits to some players of the Indian team, BCCI has been asked to purchase and use GE (General Electric) security system to install at entry gate for scranning viewers for better protection to viewers as well as for players.

"I have suggested former BCCI secretary to have GE entry scanner for scanning views walking through the entry gate," he said.

The EntryScan, which is popularly known as the puffer" help detect explosives and is a key component of the total checkpoint security solution, the commissioner said adding the system is helpful to trace narcotics detection and explosives immediately.

The commissioner has issued a notification to hotels and guest houses saying a list of people coming from outside during November 12 to 15 would have to be produced before local crime branch.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association has also started procedure to cover the ODI under insurance.

"We are talking with insurance company for insurance which is likely to be finalised within next couple of days" sources from the SCA said.
