That's it from us here! Do join us for the coverage of 2nd T20I on 22nd November. Until then, good bye and take care!
Man of the Match Quinton de Kock says that 153 was normally a good total on this wicket as it was a different wicket than it used to be. Adds that when he first came to the international setup he didn't have a specific plan but then after speaking to senior pros, he has started developing a game plan. Mentions that this is a sort of ground where you can play your shots.
Faf du Plessis says that he is loving the captaincy role and that it's nice to be the part of the team too. Adds that they posted an under par total after a fantastic start. Mentions that they did well with the ball in the first 6-7 overs but it's an unfortunate way to win and that he is not happy about it. Adds that the ball was skidding on and hence he brought on Duminy which paid off, it was an MS Dhoni moment for him(captaincy wise). Says that they possess the killer instinct now, their batting has been structured and the bowling has been excellent.
Mohammad Hafeez says that it was unfortunate and these things are uncontrollable. Adds that the bowlers did well to restrict South Africa to 153 but it was just unlucky for them. Mentions that with the rain around they had decided to take the decision to chase.
The introduction of Duminy worked for du Plessis as he removed Jamshed but then rain intervened and with 94 required from 10.5 overs, the players had to leave the field. Incessant rains meant that no further play was possible and South Africa won by 4 runs on D/L method. As a result of this victory the Proteas go 1-0 up in the two-match series.
BAD NEWS! The match has been called off and South Africa WIN BY 4 RUNS ON D/L METHOD! Just when it seemed like the match got interesting, the weather gods played spoilsport. Pakistan bowled well to restrict South Africa to just 153 after their openers had provided them a fantastic start. Pakistan lost Shehzad early but then Jamshed and Hafeez steadied the ship.
The groundsmen make their entry into the stadium and we have a RAIN STOPPAGE. The players walk back to the pavilion. Let's hope it stays away. At this stage, Pakistan are behind on the D/L par score.
