Jadeja then took up the attack and scored a handy 68 to get the lead over 300 for India. Kumar chipped in with a good fifty as well. India did well to take the first four English wickets late on Day four before Ishant turned up and won the match for India with his bowling today.
India were put into bat by England who won the toss on a very green deck. Their bowlers almost wasted the new ball but corrected themselves just in time to have India at 145-7. Rahane, though had other ideas and played magnificently to score a hundred along with a good support from the tail to post a total of 295. England in return replied with a score of 319 thanks to a ton from Ballance as the rest of the batsmen failed to adapt to the conditions.
The match looked evenly poised when Ishant struck to dismiss Ali at the stroke of Lunch. England came out attacking to the short ball but India persisted with their plan. Result, 4 wickets fell off the short ball handing India a very historic win. And this will do wonders for this team, so young and inexperienced team.
One of the finest wins for India! And what a place to win as well, Lord's! Ishant Sharma leads the Indian team off the ground. What a win this has been, England have capitulated in some fashion here. India have won a Test overseas after a gap of 3 years and boy, haven't they deserved it? They have outbowled the English pacers and Ishant turned the match around with a magical spell, taking 7-74!
Ravindra Jadeja to James Anderson
