That is it from us then! We now move to the ODIs next on October 29th. See you all then. It's goodbye and take care from us!
Mominul Haque for his brilliant performance with the bat is adjudged Man of the Match as well as the Series.
A special mention to Ish Sodhi who got some wickets in this game. A very good series for most of the youngsters but as a cricket fan, one would have hoped for a result.
The second Test saw Neil Wagner bag a five-for as he rattled the Bangladesh batting with plenty of fire. Tamim Iqbal got fifties in both innings and Mominul Haque got back to back hundreds. Corey Anderson too got his maiden hundred for NZ as most batsmen made merry on another placid deck. With rain dominating most of the game, it was indeed a tame end to the series.
Both teams had sterling performances in terms of bat and ball. In the first Test, we had three maiden centuries with BJ Watling scoring a crucial hundred for NZ with his side in trouble. Then it was the turn of Mominul Haque and Sohag Gazi to get their hundreds. Gazi also shone with the ball as he got a hat-trick to go with a five-wicket haul.
Right then! Unfortunately, the umpires have reached a decision that no further play will be possible today and they have decided to call it off. A sad end to what could have been an exciting day of Test cricket. It's a pity that the series has come to an end without a conclusive winner as both the matches ended in a draw.
1355 local time - Blackcaps tweets - Hate to be bearer of bad news, but rain has not stopped here in Dhaka. Prospect of play 'grim' at this stage, umpire's inspection at 2pm.
1313 local time - It is raining at the ground with the covers still on and possibility of any play looks fairly bleak.
The rain forced the players to take an early lunch but the rain has returned. Play does not look likely to start anytime soon. Stay tuned for further updates.
1020 local time - Uh oh! Here it comes again! Just when it looked like play would start, the rain has decided to intervene again. This is really bad news as the covers are back on and we will have more delay before we get any sort of action today. Stay tuned for further updates.
1015 local time - Some good news coming from the ground! Play will start at 1030 local time and if all goes well, the sessions will be played in the following order - First session - 1030 to 1200, Second session - 1240 to 1440 and Final session - 1500 to 1700 local time.
BlackCaps tweets, "Umpires have inspected the ground, start currently set for 1030 local, 1730 NZ time."
Unfortunately, there has been some overnight rain and wet outfield has delayed the start of today's action. Stay tuned for further updates!
Hello and welcome to the coverage of the fifth and final day of the 2nd Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Dhaka. A spectacular century from Mominul Haque and a crucial 70 from Tamim Iqbal helped Bangladesh put up a brave fight after they were reduced to 55/2 with a trail of 155 runs. They now lead by 114 runs with seven wickets in hand with Mominul still at the crease. The work is only half done yet and Bangladesh would look to get to safety with a healthy lead and then, if possible, try to go for a win. The Kiwis, on the other hand, would aim to wrap up the Bangladesh innings as soon as possible in pursuit of their first Test win in 2013. A cracking day awaits us!
That's it from us for today. Do join us for the coverage of day 5 tomorrow, which starts at 0900 local time. Until then, good bye and take care.
A brilliant day for Bangladesh and they have been pulled out of a precarious situation thanks to Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque. The New Zealand bowlers looked a bit listless but not to take the credit away from the Bangladesh batsmen. The lead is now 114 and the work is only half done yet. The hosts would look to pile on a big score and reach the safety level. The partnership between Mominul and Shakib is key and they would look to continue the same momentum tomorrow.
