The Man of the Match award goes to Mohammad Hafeez for his watchful knock of an unbeaten 42. It has been a very good game. Pakistan have given us a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming T20Is against Sri Lanka. We hope for your company for the first of them on Wednesday at 2000 local time. Till then cheers and goodbye!
Afghanistan have thrilled fans at the venue by almost taking the air out of Pakistan's batting. They bowled quite well, kept things quiet and got Pakistan to fight hard for the victory. Losing against a Test team on the last ball of the innings is a very good achievement for them. Pakistan continue to have their usual worries with their top order once again.
Dawlat Zadran to Shahid Afridi
NO BALL! Zadran gifts Pakistan the victory. Bowls a high bouncer which Afridi allows through and it's a no ball for height. PAKISTAN WIN the only T20I against Afghanistan BY 6 WICKETS off the last ball.
1 needed off 1 ball and the Afghan players are in a meeting in the ground. How often have they handled this kind of pressure and that too against a Test team?
Dawlat Zadran to Mohammad Hafeez
Full on middle, defended with soft hands back on to the pitch for a quick single. The bowler and Hafeez got into each ther's way, just slightly though.
BYE! Afghanistan shouldn't have allowed this! Full and outside off, Afridi swings hard and misses. Hafeez calls him through for a bye and Shehzad's throw(underarm) isn't great and the bye is easily completed.
3 runs needed off 3 balls!
WIDE! Very bad bowling! A needless bouncer on middle, goes well over Afridi who happily allows it through and gets a wide for Pakistan.
Shortish and slow around off, Hafeez mistimes his cut to extra cover and scampers through for a risky single. The fielder throws hard at the non-striker's end but the ball misses the bowler's arms and the stumps and Hafeez completes the single.
DOT BALL! Hafeez gets his calculations wrong here! Back of a length and outside off, close to being a wide and hence Hafeez shoulders arms. The umpire thinks otherwise, probably rightly so and doesn't signal a wide.
Full and slow on middle and leg, turned away calmly to the mid-wicket region for a single.
6 needed off 6 balls.
Hamid Hassan to Mohammad Hafeez
FOUR! How much more lucky can a batsman get? Full, a very good delivery, almost a yorker outside off. Hafeez stretches across with his bat and inside edges the ball past the initially wrong-footed Shehzad, the keeper, for a boundary to fine leg. And yes, the bowler can't believe it, he is down on his knees.
Full on middle, dragged away to long on where a misfield allows the batsmen to come back for the second.
Well, well, the master of unexpectedness, Shahid Afridi comes out to bat.
OUT! Suicidal running from Maqsood! Full and slow on middle, Hafeez is early into the flick and ends up chipping the ball to Mangal at mid-wicket. Maqsood was well down the track and was obviously sent back by his skipper. Mangal got to the ball, ran in and then threw the ball at a good height to the bowler who whips the bails off. Maqsood has to depart.
Full and outside off, Hafeez drives uppishly and the extra cover fielder jumps up, doesn't get a hand to the ball and it goes wide of long off for a couple.
Hamid Hassan to Sohaib Maqsood
A low full toss just outside off, Maqsood swings but gets no timing at all, the ball goes to mid-wicket and it's just a single.
Full on the pads, Hafeez misses out and is hit on his pads. He takes a leg bye though.
Mohammad Nabi to Mohammad Hafeez
Hafeez gets down to slog sweep but mistimes the ball to deep square leg for one. Pakistan need 16 runs off 12 balls.
