Row over security for Aussies

Bangalore:

The Australian team has arrived in Bangalore for the first ODI to be played on Saturday.

But there is a twist in the tale regarding security of the players. According to the Bangalore Police, the Karnataka State Cricket Association is not cooperating with them on security arrangements for the match between India and Australia. Apart from the players, close to 50,000 spectators are expected to turn up.

In the recently held state cricket association elections, Srikanta Datta Wodeyar was elected President and Brajesh Patel was re-elected Secretary. The differences between the two is believed to be the cause of the non co-operation.

A total of 2000 police constables are being deployed, while 10 DCPs and 20 ACPs will supervise the entire thing.

It is yet to be decided where the dog squad and crack commandos will be deployed and where and when the sabotage team should be strategically placed.

The police meanwhile claim that they are doing everything they can to ensure foolproof security.
