Chandigarh :

Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly today sought to put a lid on the controversy over the second opener's slot. The partner for Virender Sehwag would be decided only after judging the performance of the players in the upcoming one-day tournaments. Ganguly said that India is scheduled to play Tests only after a few months and any decision on the composition of the side would be taken keeping in mind the interest of the team. "There is still five-six months to go for the team to play a Test match. After seeing the form of the players in the one-dayers, we will decide on the second opener's slot," said Ganguly. Ganguly, who was here to inaugurate a showroom, also made it clear that Rahul Dravid will continue to double up as wicketkeeper in the one-dayers. "I think that the formula which is giving success to the team should not be changed," he said. Parthiv Patel is being played in Test matches and is also part of the one-day squad. "If anyone performs to the level of Dravid in one-dayers, he will be asked to keep wickets," said the Indian captain. Yuvraj singh refused to speak much about the issue but said that he would stand by his captain's decision. (PTI)
