Karachi:
Sources close to the players confirmed that they have received their two months salaries under the new central contracts which were effective from January 1, 2009.
The 'A' category players which include captain Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Salman Butt, Danish Kaneri and Shoaib Akhtar received their monthly salary of Rs 2,50,000 for two months, while 'B' and 'C' categories under which players were paid salaries of Rs 1,75,000 and 1,00,000.
Sources said the players had also asked the PCB to clear their dues from the share of the logo sponsorship deal the board had signed with a leading beverage company.
The players also want the PCB to implement the board Chairman Ejaz Butt's assurance that the list of centrally contracted players would be reviewed as some deserving candidates have been dropped from the original line-up.
The PCB had appointed a review committee to do the job, but surprisingly it has still not held a singles meeting till date.
The PCB had faced severe criticism over the inclusion of some of the 27 players in the central contracts as they have left out some deserving ones who had performed consistently at the domestic level.
The players had avoided signing the contracts until this month when talks were held between captain Younis Khan and the board during the Test series with Sri Lanka.
Sources said the players were also working on preparing the draft constitution for the professional cricketers association of Pakistan and were in touch with similar bodies of other cricket playing nations.
"Vice-captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been entrusted with the responsibility of working on the formation of the new body which has to be approved by the board first," the source said.
