PCB announces new selection panel

Karachi:

Former fast bowler Salim Jaffar and opening batsman Shoaib Mohammad has been named as selection committee members, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Friday. Jaffar was earlier the chief selector in the interim selection committee, while Mohammad, son of former captain Mushtaq Mohammad, was a member.

"They have been appointed on a full-time in the paid selection committee and will be responsible for selecting the national cricket team and Pakistan 'A' team," the PCB said in a statement.

Jaffar and Mohammad's appointment came a day after the former leg-spinner Abdul Qadir was named as the new chief selector.

The duo were the the latest former players to be included in the nation's new cricketing setup after Ejaz Butt took over the reigns of PCB last month from Nasim Ashraf.

Others who have been inducted include Salim Altaf (Chief Operating Officer), Javed Miandad (Director General), Aamir Sohail (Director of the National Cricket Academy) and Wasim Bari (Director of Human Resources).
