Bangalore:
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has advised India's fast bowling sensation Irfan Pathan to concentrate on bowling and not put pressure on himself by trying to be an all-rounder. Akram said the hectic schedule of modern cricket made being an all-rounder almost impossible and the 20-year old Indian should remember that batting was his secondary task. "He (Pathan) should know that he is a bowler who can bat. He should concentrate on that," said Akram who is in city on a promotional visit. "It's hard-work to be an all-rounder now-a-days as we play so much cricket. All-rounder can sort of, at times, sort of get tired." Need to concentrate The Pakistani legend hastened to add that the Baroda seamer had the talent and could become a top all-rounder if he worked hard at it. Akram agreed that there was "too much hype" about Pathan. He also told Pathan last year itself in Australia that if he bowled well, money and attention were bound to follow him, given his personality. Akram is the only bowler to have captured more than 400 wickets each in Test and one-day cricket. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
