New Delhi:

Pakistan won the one-day practice game against Delhi by seven wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla in the capital.

Salman Butt was named Man of the Match for his 83 off 84 balls.

There was so much to look forward to as Pakistan stepped out on to the field for the first time on this tour.

Topping the list though at the Feroze Shah Kotla grounds was Shoaib Akhtar. And the crowds did not have to wait long as Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first.

A sense of urgency prevailed at the ground, Pakistan touring India after two years meant that the crowds came thronging in and security was beefed up

Shoaib Akhtar has turned over a new leaf according to coach Geoff Lawson, but the Kotla crowd were right behind him expecting fireworks from the feisty bowler right from the word go.

But it was Umar Gul who got the first break through, proving that he could be every bit as effective as Mohammad Asif who was forced to pull out of the series due to injury.

Captain Gautam Gambhir's cheap dismissal though will raise a few eyebrows considering he was one of the lucky few to survive the selector's axe.

The surprise package was Younis Khan. He foxed the Delhi batsmen with his military medium pace and removed Akaash Chopra and Mithun Manhas with two successive deliveries as Delhi slumped to 41/3.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rajat Bhatia gave Delhi's innings a steadying hand, they came together for a face saving 91 run fifth wicket partnership, upsound.

Both scored crucial half centuries to help Delhi to 213/9. Bhatia was the top scorer with 75.

What hurt Delhi the most was the slew of run-outs, courtesy some sharp fielding by the Pakistanis.

The tail did wag a bit, but Delhi could manage just 213/9 in the allotted 50 overs.
