Pakistan board denies contract to Akhtar

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was denied a central contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was denied a central contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Rawalpindi Express has also turned down a retainer offered by the Board.

According to reports, Younis Khan has top scored in the PCB's central contracts point system.

Overall 22 Pakistan players were assessed by the PCB. The players were judged in eight different categories, which include seniority, conduct, discipline, fitness, recent performances and failures, extraordinary recent performances and team spirit.

Yonis Khan, who turned down captaincy last year, was awarded 78 points, followed by Misbah-ul-Haq, who received 71.

Akhtar, who was dropped from the 15 member list of players awarded central contracts, was given 33 points, the lowest among all 22 players.
