New Delhi:
The proteas are still in 5th place, but they have closed the gap with the higher ranked teams.
They are now just two points behind India and Sri Lanka.
Australia still lead the table with 30 rating points ahead of second placed England. But the pressure is on for the teams placed 3rd to 5th since all three will be playing test series over the next two months.
It will also be Pakistan's best chance to reverse their slide on the table. They have now dropped below New Zealand and into 7th place.
Pakistan will be playing India in three tests in November and December. Therefore, both the sides have an added incentive to win.
