Karachi: Pakistan are chasing 233 to win the Paktel Cup one-day international against Sri Lanka in Karachi today. The hosts lost both the openers early on and after 15 overs Shoaib Malik and Yousuf Youhana were leading the chase for victory. Sri Lanka, playing for the first time since their loss to England in the Champions Trophy, did not sufficiently exploit the foundation laid by a solid hundred-run partnership for the second wicket between the veterans Sanath Jayasuriya and Marvan Atapattu. In the end the middle and lower order collapsed and Pakistan restricted the visitors to 232 for the loss of 9 wickets. Shoaib Malik bowled superbly to return figures of 3 for 32.
