Chittagong:
Earlier, Bangladesh was dismissed for 245.
Hasan broke through New Zealand's opening partnership of 27, having Jamie How (16) caught at silly-point by Rajin Saleh.
Newcomer Jesse Ryder (1) was also caught by Saleh off Hasan with New Zealand on 29. Hasan also trapped opener Aaron Redmond (19) to haul three wickets for just 11 runs by tea.
Redmond had built up the innings to 46 with Ross Taylor (12), who was trapped lbw by Abdur Razzak.
A 47-run fifth wicket stand between Brendon McCullum and Daniel Flynn steadied New Zealand to 99 after lunch. However, Nayeem Islam had Flynn (19) caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim to earn his first Test wicket.
Hasan then got two wickets for one run in the same 37th over, dismissing McCullum on 25 and Jacob Oram for a duck, with New Zealand in trouble at 100-7. Hasan struck again when Kyle Mills (4) was caught behind by Rahim, but TV replays suggested that the ball may have missed the bat.
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori's 29-run stand with Jeetan Patel (0) ended when Hasan took a great catch at midwicket off Mohammad Ashraful with the last ball of the day.
Vettori was unbeaten on 48, with Iain O'Brien yet to pad up at the close of play, with New Zealand trailing by 90 runs with a wicket in hand.
Vettori was successful with the ball in the morning session, taking 3-9 to finish with a five-wicket haul for the innings.
Mehrab Hossain (83) and Mushfiqur Rahim (79) scored defiant half centuries. After their 144-run fifth-wicket partnership ended, the Bangladesh innings folded, with six wickets falling for 62 runs _ the last five for just 16 _ after the hosts had resumed on 183-4.
Vettori's spin partner Patel got 2-8 in the session and returned 2-76 overall and Bangladesh's run-rate stood at 2 runs per over.
Hossain and Rahim put on a record-making 139-run fifth-wicket stand in the last two sessions of the opening day to revive the innings after Bangladesh had slumped to 44-4.
But Hossain managed to add just four more runs before driving a slow delivery from Iain O'Brien in the air straight to Redmond at short cover, with Bangladesh on 188 for five. Hossain's 83 came off 179 balls and included 11 boundaries. O'Brien ended with 3-36.
Rahim and Nayeem Islam added 41 runs for the next wicket, before Islam was stumped by Brendon McCullum off Patel. Bangladesh lost two more wickets on 229.
Vettori removed Rahim and Mashrafee bin Murtaza (0) in the 116th over, then had Abdur Razzak (11) caught behind by McCullum.
Rahim faced 210 balls, with 12 boundaries and a six in an innings that stabilized the hosts.
