Yorkshire:

Inzamam-ul-Haq was often considered among the three best batsmen of our time, but after a disastrous World Cup for Pakistan he seems to be persona non grata for the PCB.

Inzy has been linked to the Indian Cricket League, even though he refused to comment on the issue when NDTV caught up with him in Yorkshire. But clearly the PCB is'nt too bothered - they have'nt even made any effort to get Inzy to change his mind.

Sachin Tendulkar and Inzamam now have something else in common apart from being in the list of best batsmen of our generation. Inzy is playing for Yorkshire right now, while Sachin was their first pro overseas player.

But they've come at different times of their careers, since Inzamam now seems to be heading towards a forced retirement.

"County cricket will give me a bit of a break. For the first time in 18 years I will be playing County cricket. I spent five months at home after the World Cup for the first time. It was a difficult time for me especially after the World Cup. It was necessary for me to get back to playing cricket after all that had happened so I came here even though its been a relatively short session," said Inzamam.

He quit playing one-dayer during the World Cup, but made himself available for Test matches. But the PCB's refusal to hand him a Test contract means he's unlikely to be playing for the country again. Sadly there is'nt even any public outcry that Inzy has been poorly treated.

"People in India and Pakistan are very emotional when it comes to cricket. When you win, they give you respect. When you lose, you have to face their anger. My experience is that people only remain angry for two-three days. It's part and parcel of our culture and I am also a part of that culture," said Inzamam.

Inzy is now being linked to the Indian Cricket League and one thing is for sure despite his dodgy fitness, his big hitting could be a big draw in the Twenty-20 version. But for now he's not saying yes or no," he said.

From an emotional person after the World Cup to a philosophical one, former Pakistan Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has made that journey well. And for now one of the most prolific batsman is doing what he loves best - playing cricket - even if it is not for his own Country.
