Vadodara:

National cricket selector Narendra Hirwani will watch the proceedings of the first one-dayer between India and England to be played at the Madhavrao Scindhia Stadium in Rajkot on Friday.

Hirwani, who is here to watch the Ranji Trophy match between Baroda and Uttar Pradesh, informed that he will be the only member of the Krishnamachari Srikkanth-led selection committee who will be present during the match.

Although the Indian squad for the first three ODIs have already been announced, the former India leg-spinner will definitely take into account the impressive performances of Irfan Pathan and Preveen Kumar in the on-going Ranji tie before naming the national squad for the remaining four-matches of the ODI series against England.

Irfan picked up six wickets for 85 runs for Baroda, while Uttar Pradesh's Kumar took five wickets for 71 and scored a useful 50 with the bat.
