Nasser's retirement well-timed: Waugh

Barrackpore: Former Aussie skipper Steve Waugh today hailed former England captain Nasser Hussain for making a heroic exit from international cricket after scoring a match-winning knock against New Zealand in the first Test at Lord's. "Nasser has timed his retirement perfectly. He scored a hundred, won a Test match, doing it all in circumstances when many were saying he was struggling for his place in the side," said Waugh.Recalling that he was under similar pressure in Sydney two years back, the most successful Test captain ever said, "Looking at that, I think it was a perfect way to finish. Hussain left on a high note and that's what all the cricketers want to do." Hussain, who led England in 45 Test matches, announced his retirement on May 27, three days after leading his side to a seven-wicket victory against the Kiwis with his unbeaten century. (PTI)
