New Delhi:

Sri Lanka will be without their premier spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan for the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa next month.

The off-spinner has injured his elbow and is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks. Murali is likely to be replaced by off-spinning all rounder Dilruwan Perera.

Murali had picked up the injury while bowling for his county side Lanchashire. There has been speculation that he has been overbowled in England given that he has bowled 400 overs in just 8 games.
