Cricket in India is a religion and nothing proves it like the unprecedented reception given to MS Dhoni and his boys for lifting the Twenty20 cricket cup.

As the team arrived from South Africa, Mumbai came to a stand still. Nothing seemed to matter for Mumbaikars as thousands thronged to welcome Team India.

Mumbai's peak hour traffic halted in its tracks, making way for the men of honour.

Those who did not join the victory procession, they leaned out of their balconies.

As the procession got closer to the Wankhede Stadium, the numbers of those running and cheering along the way ballooned.

The streets literally turned into a carnival.

Team India went to the Twenty20 championship as underdogs but returned as conquerors and Mumbai welcomed them with open arms.
