Mohali revisited, Lee denied ball again

Nagpur:

In a repeat of what happened in the Mohali Test, a dejected Brett Lee could only watch in exasperation as Australia, lagging far behind in over rates, kept him out of action in the final session of the fourth day's play in the final Test against India on Sunday.

Ricky Ponting didn't return immediately after tea and his deputy Michael Clarke was in charge. With India reeling at 166 for six at tea, Lee expected himself to be pressed into service but was dejected to see Jason Krezja and Cameron White working in tandem.

In the 55th over, Lee wanted to know from Clarke why he was not being bowled to which the acting captain shrugged and explained that with Australia 10 overs behind the rate, it was just not a possibility.

Lee's frustration knew no bounds when part-time bowler Michael Hussey was preferred to him, something that didn't make sense to the pacer.

Incidentally in the Mohali Test also, Lee was kept out of action for the entire morning session of day four's play which led to an animated discussion between the pacer and Ponting, triggering speculation that relation had gone sour between the two.

Former Australia captain Allan Border was furious with the Australian approach and rued how Ponting and his team allowed over-rate to become a serious distraction to their bid for a series-equalling win.

"I don't know what to make of all this," an upset Border said.

"They go into the tea break on a high and come out worrying about the over rates," he lamented.
