lbw b Mitchell Starc 0.1 OUT! LBW! It has hit the boot first and it is an excellent review from Australia. They strike on the very first ball of the game. Terrible start for Malan on his ODI debut. He grabs a golden duck in his first outing. Superb bowling from Starc. Nobody wants to face such peach at the start of the innings and definitely not on debut. Starc steams in and bowls a very full ball on middle and leg. It is almost on a yorker length. It angles in beautifully to the right-hander. Malan looks to flick but misses. There is a huge appeal from the Aussies but the umpire turns it down. Aaron Finch signals the 'T' after a brief thought. Replay rolls in and Ultra Edge shows that the ball hit the boot before the bat. Ball Tracker then rolls in and it shows three reds. Malan has to walk back and his dream day has turned into nightmare. Perfect start for Australia. 0/1

Quinton de Kock C Wk | 15 | 16 | 1 | 0 | 93.75 |
c Alex Carey b Josh Hazlewood 6.2 OUT! Caught behind! Big wicket for the Aussies, they have got the big fish. The South African skipper is back in the hut. Change of ends for Hazlewood works wonders for his team. Hazlewood bowls a typical Hazlewood delivery. It is on a length, just outside off. De Kock looks to run it down towards third man. The ball though is close to the stumps for Quinton to play that shot. He still goes for it and ends up kissing the ball to the keeper. He straightaway looks behind and Carey is not going to drop those. Hazlewood is up in joy. There was no need for this shot! 33/2

Temba Bavuma | 26 | 30 | 3 | 0 | 86.66 |
b Pat Cummins 9.1 OUT! Chopped on! The top three South African batters are back in the pavilion inside Powerplay 1! Things are going from bad to worse for the Proteas in this game. The man in form, Bavuma is back for early showers as well. Cummins has his first and all the three pacers now have a wicket each. Back of a length delivery around off, the ball keeps high on Bavuma. He tries to tap it on the off side but gets a thick inside edge and the ball goes onto uproot the off pole. 48/3
| |||||
Kyle Verreynne | 48 | 64 | 2 | 0 | 75 |
c Mitchell Marsh b Pat Cummins 26.4 OUT! TAKEN! That is a sharp, sharp catch and the ploy to keep a short square leg works. It was Australia's plan to get on Cummins and ask him to bowl short, he does so and it brings the downfall of the debutant. A good innings form him though comes to an end but he will be disappointed he falls two short of a half ton. Also, he had hit that really well. Rocked back and smashes it but flat and straight towards Marsh there who takes a good catch. The stand which was going along nicely has been broken. Australia once again back on top. 126/4

David Miller | 64 | 70 | 4 | 1 | 91.42 |
c Alex Carey b Pat Cummins 48.2 OUT! Caught behind! Very close to a no ball but Cummins is just about fine. A short ball, around off, Miller gets across, looks to pull but finds no pace to work with. Just 124 kph. He is cramped for room and gloves it to the keeper. Miller starts to walk off but the umpire wants to check for the overstepping. Refers it upstairs and Cummins just about has something behind the line. That ends a magnificent 149-run stand. Could be a match-winning one. Not quite back to form, is Miller, but he at least got some runs today. 275/5

Andile Phehlukwayo | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
run out (Pat Cummins) 48.4 OUT! RUN OUT. Excellent yorker outside off, Phehlukwayo looks to dig it out but the ball takes the inside edge and rolls to the leg side. Andile is ball-searching and hence, is late to react to the single. He starts to run after Cummins gets to the ball and knows that he is gone for all money if the bowler hits. And Cummins, with all the time in the world, does not miss his shy at the bowler's end. 275/6
| |||||
Keshav Maharaj | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 100 |
b Mitchell Starc 49.3 OUT! BOWLED! That is a Mitchell Starc special and exactly why the single on the previous ball taken is questionable. A perfect yorker from Starc, on off, Maharaj backs away, looks to swing but misses. The off stump has been knocked out. 286/7

David Warner | 25 | 27 | 3 | 0 | 92.59 |
c Kyle Verreynne b Lungi Ngidi 9 OUT! CAUGHT! The third umpire has gone with the soft signal. Full and outside off, Warner pushes at this uppishly. The ball dips onto Kyle Verreyne at cover-point who dives forward, takes the catch and claims it. But Warner stands his ground. The Proteas are confident and the umpires get to confer. They refer it upstairs with the soft signal as out. The first replay seems to indicate that the ball has gone into the palms, with the fingers underneath the ball. But the more you look at it, the more you feel it has bounced. Eventually, OUT flashes on the giant screen. Both the openers dismissed inside Powerplay 1. 243 more needed from 246 balls. 49/2
| |||||
Aaron Finch C | 10 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 83.33 |
c Quinton de Kock b Lungi Ngidi 4.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! There goes Finch. Ngidi takes just two balls to strike. A short ball, outside off, Finch backs away, trying to repeat his previous stroke but the extra pace and bounce on this ball induces an outside edge. Simple catch to his counterpart Quinton de Kock behind the stumps. 269 more needed to win from 274 balls. 23/1
| |||||
Steven Smith | 76 | 94 | 3 | 0 | 80.85 |
lbw b Anrich Nortje 34.1 OUT! LBW! Is that the game for South Africa? Well, two set batters back in the hut and with still another 118 runs needed, you have to feel so. Nortje lands this on a length and around middle, it skids through after pitching. Smith looks to flick but misses. It hits the pad, a huge appeal goes up and so does the finger. Smith does have a chat with Carey but then starts walking back. He is very disappointed with himself. This game has changed in the course of two overs here. Ball Tracker shows it to be hitting the leg pole. 174/5
| |||||
Marnus Labuschagne | 41 | 51 | 2 | 0 | 80.39 |
c Lungi Ngidi b Keshav Maharaj 26.4 OUT! Labuschagne holes out! He has literally thrown his wicket away. A nothing shot from him here. Maharaj is successful in breaking the stand. This is tossed up on middle and off, Labuschagne plants his front foot forward and ends up chipping it straight down the throat of Ngidi who makes no mistake at long on. A good little innings from Labuschagne comes to an end but he needed to stay out there longer. South Africa will now look to build more pressure on the Aussies. They are just ahead in the game at the moment. 159 more needed. 133/3
| |||||
Mitchell Marsh | 16 | 19 | 1 | 0 | 84.21 |
b Lungi Ngidi 33.4 OUT! Bowled! Ngidi comes and strikes again. It is a gem of a delivery from Lungi and Marsh is completely outdone by it. The budding stand comes to an end. The all-in-all destructor in this Australian batting line-up is out of here. Good length delivery outside off, Marsh looks to drive it on the up but the ball tails back in and goes right between the gate of bat and pad to disturb the off pole. Marsh had a chance to silence his critics but unfortunately he fails to do so. Australia need another 118 in 98 balls. 174/4
| |||||
Alex Carey Wk | 5 | 16 | 0 | 0 | 31.25 |
c Kyle Verreynne b Tabraiz Shamsi 39.4 OUT! In the air... taken! Shamsi does pick one and it is a big wicket of Carey. The pressure of the run rate creeping up gets the better of Carey. This is tossed up on off, Carey looks to go downtown as he tries to clear long off. Does not time it that well and Miller takes an easy catch in the deep. It now looks an impossible task for Australia. 97 needed in 62. 195/6
| |||||
D'Arcy Short | 18 | 24 | 1 | 0 | 75 |
st Quinton de Kock b Tabraiz Shamsi 43.1 OUT! That is probably the last nail in the coffin for Australia! Short looks to take on Shamsi. He steps out but Shamsi shortens the length. Short swings but misses and de Kock does the rest. 207/8
| |||||
Mitchell Starc | 5 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 41.66 |
run out (Quinton de Kock) 42.2 OUT! RUN OUT! Number 7 down and Starc's struggle comes to an end! One more slower one outside off, Starc once again looks to cut but gets a bottom edge. He comes out of the crease in search of a run but is sent back. The keeper picks up the ball up and hits the bull's eye at the striker's end. Starc is well short of his crease! 203/7
| |||||
Pat Cummins | 6 | 7 | 1 | 0 | 85.71 |
c Kyle Verreynne b Andile Phehlukwayo 44.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Another spectacular catch from Verreynne. It is a slower one and on middle, Cummins swings but only manages to hit it high up in the air towards long on. KV runs in and takes an excellent catch with a dive forward. 211/9

b Anrich Nortje 45.1 OUT! TIMBER! That is the end of the match! SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 74 RUNS! It is on a length and around off, Hazlewood is beaten for sheer pace and fails to keep it out. The stumps light up and it's lights out for Australia. 217/10
