c Quinton de Kock b Dale Steyn 2.3 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Steyn draws first blood. Excellent delivery that. An effort ball on the fuller side, it is bowled at 142 kph. Also seams away a touch from the off pole. Head goes for a drive but with minimal foot movement. The ball takes the outside edge and goes into the mitts of the keeper. Ideal start for South Africa after opting to bowl. 4/1

Aaron Finch C | 5 | 17 | 0 | 0 | 29.41 |
lbw b Lungi Ngidi 5.5 OUT! LBW! Another one bites the dust and it is the big one, of the Australian skipper. Ngidi gets his first and the new-ball bowlers are wrecking havoc here. This was nicely set up, he kept bowling the awayswingers but this time gets it to jag back in after pitching on a length and around off. Finch is not able to adjust to the movement and he fails to put bat on ball. It hits him on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Finch has a word with Lynn and then starts walking. But hold on.. replays show the ball to be going over. Now then, Finch is arguably Australia's best batsman, wonder why he did not take the review. South Africa won't care though and Australia slip further. 8/3
| |||||
D'Arcy Short | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Faf du Plessis b Dale Steyn 2.5 OUT! Two in the over and Steyn is breathing fire here. D'Arcy Short bags a duck and Australia are in trouble early. A similar delivery to the one he got Head with. This though is even wider. Short goes for a booming drive but the ball takes a thick outside edge and flies towards Faf at second slip. He takes a tumbling catch. The South Africans are ecstatic. 4/2
| |||||
Chris Lynn | 15 | 32 | 2 | 0 | 46.87 |
c Quinton de Kock b Andile Phehlukwayo 16.2 OUT! Snicko shows a spike and Lynn is given his marching orders! Judicious use of the review by South Africa and Lynn who got through the tough part, falls when it has probably got a touch easy. Another poor shot to be honest. It is slightly short and outside off, Lynn goes for the cut but there seems to be some noise as the ball passes the bat. De Kock dives forward and takes it. He appeals but the umpire shakes his head. The keeper wants it to be reviewed and Faf signals the 'T'. Replays roll in and it shows bat was involved. The on-field call has to be overturned and Australia slip further. 36/4
| |||||
Alex Carey Wk | 33 | 71 | 2 | 0 | 46.47 |
c Quinton de Kock b Imran Tahir 31.5 OUT! In the air... taken! 150th ODI wicket for Imran Tahir. Carey may have over done it there. He again goes for the sweep but the ball hits the top edge and lobs up in the air over the keeper's head. De Kock tracks back and takes an easy catch. An appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Australia's top scorer and the last recognized batsman is walking back. 107/8
| |||||
Glenn Maxwell | 11 | 8 | 2 | 0 | 137.5 |
c Heinrich Klaasen b Andile Phehlukwayo 18.1 OUT! The fingers are underneath the ball and Australia have half the side back in the hut. Maxwell departs immediately after coping a blow to his hand. A soft dismissal you can say. Andile bowls it slightly slower on middle, Maxwell is foxed there, he goes for the drive but due to the lack of pace on the delivery, he is early into the shot. Ends up chipping it towards mid on. Klaasen there seems to have taken it inches above the ground. Maxwell though is not convinced and holds his ground. The umpires have a chat and then take it upstairs. The soft signal is out. Replays roll in and the third umpire rules it in the favor of the fielding side. Maxwell is unhappy as he walks back. He fails to make an impact. 48/5
| |||||
Marcus Stoinis | 14 | 14 | 2 | 0 | 100 |
c Heinrich Klaasen b Andile Phehlukwayo 21 OUT! Andile gets his third! Poor, just poor by Stoinis. Not sure if this shot was needed. Yes, the shot might have been on, but in the current situation, he need not have hit it in the air. Full and on middle, Stoinis tries to clear mid on but does not get the desired elevation. Klaasen there takes an easy catch. 66/6
| |||||
Pat Cummins | 12 | 26 | 0 | 0 | 46.15 |
run out (David Miller) 28.3 OUT! Cummins is well short despite the dive! There was never a run there. Carey taps this length ball towards covers and he wants a run. Cummins responds. Miller from that region, gets to the ball quickly and underarm flicks it while falling over. He hits the stumps at the keeper's end. The players appeal and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and it shows Australia have lost their 7th. Outstanding from Miller as he breaks a partnership that was starting to frustrate the South Africans. 89/7
| |||||
Nathan Coulter-Nile | 34 | 31 | 5 | 1 | 109.67 |
c Heinrich Klaasen b Lungi Ngidi 38.1 OUT! Australia have been bowled out for 152. Spectacular bowling by South Africa and Ngidi too. A short ball outside off, Nathan looks to pull but the bounce gets big on him. Takes a top edge which goes only as far as mid on. Easy catch for Heinrich Klaasen. 152/10
| |||||
Mitchell Starc | 12 | 12 | 2 | 0 | 100 |
lbw b Imran Tahir 36 OUT! Three reds and Australia are 9 down. The frustrating stand for the South Africans has come to an end. The leggie from Tahir on middle, it pitches and turns back in. Starc goes back and tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Starc signals the 'T' and the replays show the umpire has given the correct decision. 140/9

c Josh Hazlewood b Nathan Coulter-Nile 16.4 OUT! Stop the press. Australia have picked up a wicket. Full and outside off, probably a touch slower in pace. De Kock looks to go over the top but this time, gets more height than distance. Easy catch for Josh Hazlewood moving to his left from mid off. Misses out on a half century and also what would have been the first century opening stand for South Africa since October 2017. 94/1
| |||||
Reeza Hendricks | 44 | 74 | 4 | 0 | 59.45 |
c Chris Lynn b Marcus Stoinis 22 OUT! And now, Hendricks departs. Like de Kock, he too, misses out on his half century. A length ball, on middle and leg, Hendricks looks to work it to the leg side but the ball bounces from nowhere. Probably hit that spot on the pitch where the explosions have been taking place. As a result, the ball flies off the top portion of the bat towards mid on where Chris Lynn does the rest. Something for the Aussies to smile. Certainly Marcus Stoinis is pumped up. 122/2
| |||||
Aiden Markram | 36 | 32 | 6 | 0 | 112.5 |
b Marcus Stoinis 27.2 OUT! Drags it on! Markram does not stay there till the end. Stoinis gets his second. A poor shot. It was bowled short and wide outside off. Markram goes for the cut, way away from his body. Also no foot movement on that one. It takes the inside edge and it clips the leg pole. 143/3

c Aaron Finch b Marcus Stoinis 29.1 OUT! There goes another one! It though won't make a difference in the context of the game. But delight for Stoinis as he gets his third. Klaasen goes for the drive on the up, the ball takes the outside edge and goes towards Finch at first slip. He takes a very good catch. 151/4
