Sri Lanka skipper, Angelo Mathews does not call it a clinical performance as they did drop catches. He though lauds the energy and intensity of the team. Adds that they just needed to regroup and get better. Does not want to talk about the strategies in public. Feels that Sandakan bowled really well and credits the selectors for picking Hasaranga. Mentions that chasing a small target, if you lose two early wickets it can get tricky. Confesses that he can't thank Tharanga enough as the southpaw has been playing up and down the order to accommodate people. Ends up calling him the ultimate team player.

Zimbabwe skipper, Graeme Cremer admits that the wicket was different and 230 would have been a good score. Rues that they did not get it right with the bat. Credits the Lankan bowlers for bowling well. Adds that they will look to not repeat the soft dismissals ahead and adjust to the conditions better.

Man of the Match, Lakshan Sandakan is happy with his performance. Credits his captain for giving him confidence. The game was set up in the first half itself. After electing to bowl, Lakshan Sandakan first broke the back of the visitors' batting line-up taking 4/52 before Wanidu Hasaranga ran through the tail becoming the first leg spinner to take a hat-trick in ODIs on debut. Nothing worked for Zimbabwe with both bat and ball. They will aim to forget this fixture and put in a better show in the third ODI.

That's as clinical as a win can get. Sri Lanka have romped to victory and leveled the series 1-1. Upul Tharanga ensured that there were no hiccups in the chase of 156 as he finished with an unbeaten 75. Zimbabwe never had enough on the board to trouble the hosts. They did take two wickets early via Tendai Chatara but that was it. Niroshan Dickwella then combined with Tharanga and the home side was steadied with a 67-run stand while Angelo Mathews provided the finishing touches.
