That's it from this game then. India start their title defense with a clinical win. They now take on, Japan, the land of the rising son who already have one point under their belt due to their washout game against New Zealand. India's game against Japan starts on 21st January at 1000 local (0800 GMT). We will love your company for that game. Till then, goodbye and take care.
Indian skipper, Priyam Garg, says that he is really happy with his side's performance. Tells that they could've added more runs on the board but feels that they lost set batsmen in the middle overs. Finishes off by saying that he will give India 9/10 for their performance in this game.
Sri Lanka, skipper, Nipun Dananjaya, says that India were excellent in all the three departments and deserved the win. Tells that they have an excellent side and they will look to correct their mistakes from this game and come back stronger.
SIDDHESH VEER IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH for his all-round performance. He says that he is really happy from his performance. Tells that he enjoys batting more than bowling.
Indian bowling was excellent throughout the game. The pacers bowled with hostility and troubled the opposition batters. Tyagi, Mishra and Singh were excellent throughout the game. Siddhesh Veer and Ravi Bishnoi were superb with their spin bowling too. As they did not allow the Lankans to score freely. Bishnoi struck twice in two balls while Veer and Singh returned with two wickets to their name to seal the game for India.
So, a comfortable victory for India. The Lankans never looked to be in command of the run chase. India struck early but Ravindu Rasantha and Kamil Mishara presented some fight during their 87-run stand. However, they hardly showed any urgency during the stand. Apart from these two, Nipun Dananjaya, the Lankan skipper played 59-run inning off 56 balls, he could never got going either. Once India broke the second wicket partnership, none of Sri Lanka batters could present any fight. They tumbled from 180/4 to 207/10.
