That's it from us today. India clinch another victory in this competition and get qualified for the knockouts. They look a tough side to beat as both their batting and bowling look strong. It will take something extra ordinary to beat this side. India now face Zimbabwe on 19th January,Friday. Tune in at 1400 local (0100GMT) for live action. Until then, goodbye and take care!
Prithvi Shaw interview - On being questioned how relaxed were they after facing a tough opponent in the first match,he says that the boys were not relaxed as they gave their best with good intensity on the field and with right attitude. It has always been about the process and not the result. On being asked about the coaches he says that the support staff and trainers help them remain fit all the time. He specially mentioned that it is an honour for the team to have Rahul Dravid as the coach and they are not thinking about the qualification now(as they are qualified), they want to learn from every match and take every game at a time.
Vagi Karaho interview - On being asked how good of an experience it was he says it was a good learning experience for them as for most of the boys it was the first time that they were playing a World Cup so they have learnt a lot. He even mentioned that all the coaches and support staff have helped them get so far. About their preparation coming into the tournament he says that they went to Brisbane to prepare themselves for the game but it was challenging for them.
MAN OF THE MATCH - Ankul Roy is the Man of the Match in today's game for his match winning figures of 6.5-2-14-5. He says that the playing conditions looked pretty decent as it was cold out there, our physios and trainers asked us to stretch and keep ourself warm. On being asked about his confidence going into the game, he says as he went onto bowl some overs he was getting into the rhythm which boosted his confidence.
They then came out with one intention - Finish the game early and get enough sleep. Prithvi Shaw led from the front and came all guns firing scoring a quick fire fifty, his second in two games. His partner, Manjot just faced nine balls but didn't mind being at the other end seeing his captain dominate proceedings. Papua New Guinea, on the other hand, couldn't do much with the ball as the were low on confidence defending a below par score. Hopefully, they take something from this game and out out fighting in the next one.
We all knew the result of this game before the start of it. But who knew it would be over in this fashion? India have not only won this game but have humbled their opponents. They have finished the game in just eight overs with all of their wickets intact. India took about 4-5 overs to get their line right but after that it was no stopping them. They took PNG all out for just 67 runs with Roy banging a fifer.
