He is one cricketer who would have loved to be part of the men in blue in hometown Hyderabad. Ahead of India's first one-day international against South Africa to be played in the city on Wednesday, V V S Laxman's fans were disappointed that the stylish batsman wasn't able to make it to the one-day squad. "His strike rate is not good. He is not consistent. He is a bad fielder and bad between the wickets. But since he is from Hyderabad and I am a Hyderabadi, I will miss him," a local said. On Monday evening, Laxman chose to be with Sunil Gavaskar when the 'Little Master' released the biography of M L Jaisimha, one of Laxman's cricketing heroes. "When the selection criteria is there for one-dayers and when he has performed and scored a hundred and a fifty, I think he should have walked in," said John Manoj, Laxman's coach. With Team India doing well, Hyderabad realises that it may not see Laxman in a blue attire again. But it hopes the BCCI selectors will not deny Laxman a place in the test team against Sri Lanka.
