Colombo:
India received a major setback in the Asia Cup after it was decided to fly VVS Laxman back home as his knee had not recovered from the bruise suffered in the nets two days ago. "Laxman will be flown back home on Monday. We will decide on the replacement today but at the moment are not sure whom to request for since our A side is currently touring Africa," captain Sourav Ganguly said. India suffered a 59-run defeat against arch rivals Pakistan at the Premadasa Stadium today. India, in the absence of Laxman, went into the match with five specialist bowlers including two spinners but were sent on a leather hunt by the Pakistanis who posted a daunting 300 for nine. India then were restricted to 241 for eight but just managed to deprived Pakistan the crucial bonus point. Laxman sat out of the group match against Sri Lanka but returned for the Super League match against Bangladesh. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
