Laxman, Kumble dropped from ODI team

India have dropped four players from the team that played the triangular Indian Oil one-day series in Sri Lanka.

India have dropped four players from the team that played the triangular Indian Oil one-day series in Sri Lanka. The BCCI's selection committee met in Mumbai today and announced the Test and ODI teams for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour. Batsman V V S Laxman, leg spinner Anil Kumble and medium pacers Zaheer Khan and Laxmipathy Balaji have been left out of India's one-day team for the Zimbabwe tour, which begins on August 24. Sachin Tendulkar, who had been recuperating from a surgery for tennis elbow, has been named in the test team subject to his fitness. Medium pacer Ajit Agarkar is back in the one-day squad in place of Laxmipathy Balaji. Laxman, who was dropped for the one-dayers, has been included in the test team for the Zimbabwe tour. S Raina, JP Yadav and Venugopal Rao have been named in the one-day team. Uttar Pradesh's 19-year-old left-arm pace bowler Rudra Pratap Singh is the only new face in the ODI team for the tri-series featuring New Zealand, Zimbabwe and India. Murali Kartik and Harbhajan Singh are the two spinners in the one-day squad. ODI Squad: Sourav Ganguly (capt), Rahul Dravid (vice-capt), Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mohd Kaif, Suresh Raina, Venugopal Rao, M S Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Murali Kartik, Ashish Nehra, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, R P Singh and J P Yadav. Test Squad: Sourav Ganguly (capt), Rahul Dravid (vice-capt), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar (subject to fitness), VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Mohd Kaif, Dinesh Kaarthick, Anil Kumble, L Balaji, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra.
