Kumble lashes out at team for Colombo defeat

After a humiliating defeat in the Colombo Test, the Indian team got a real tongue-lashing from captain Anil Kumble. Reports suggest that an angry Kumble scolded the players, even as coach Gary Kirsten and Sachin Tendulkar asked them to move on.

Kirsten told the team to quickly forget the disaster and not carry any baggage from that loss, while Sachin said the Indian team had made strong comebacks in the past, and should try and do that again.

"Kumble really scolded the players... He was very angry," a national daily quoted a source who was present in the team meeting on Sunday.

According to the source, coach Gary Kirsten and seniormost pro Sachin Tendulkar also spoke at that team meeting.

"Kirsten talked in a restrained manner, advising the players to quickly forget the disaster so that the defeat did not become an unnecessary baggage while moving forward," the source said.

India's most successful batsman Sachin Tendulkar tried to lift the team's morale by saying comebacks had been made in the past and that a comeback would again be made.
