Krejza should play 3rd Test, says Border

Melbourne:

Dismissing suggestions to call up Andrew Symonds and Shaun Tait or the retired Shane Warne to save Australia the blushes, former skipper Allan Border has batted for rookie spinner Jason Krejza to be included in the first XI for the third Test against India starting in New Delhi from October 29.

"They've got to look at the spin option, that seems obvious. That's an area that is an achilles heel," Border was quoted as saying by 'Herald Sun'.

"Cameron White and Michael Clarke have done well, but they're not front-line spinners. They've taken Jason away, so we need to find out one way or the other whether he's the right bloke," he said.

"I know he got unflattering figures in the tour game but that counts for nothing. If you've taken him away there's a reason for that and now is the moment of truth. They've just got to have the guts to play him -- and I think they need to," added the former Australian captain who was a national selector for seven years till 2005.

Krejza, who got a battering in the practice match in Hyderabad, has been cooling his heels on the bench after he was ignored for the first two Tests.

But Border, feels if Ricky Ponting's men desire to level the Border-Gavaskar series, Krejza should be given a go in New Delhi.

Border, however, was amazed to hear about a possible comeback of Warne to rescue Australia's spin department and doubted about the moves success.

"He's not doing anything -- he's playing poker, isn't he?" Border said. "It makes good headlines, doesn't it. Put it this way, he's probably still good enough, but it's all speculation and good newspaper fodder."
