Pakistan captain Younis Khan hit a defiant 107 to deny India victory in the second Test that ended in a draw on the final day at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

Chasing 345, Pakistan was 214 for four when the two captains decided to call it off.

Earlier, Kamran Akmal opened the batting along with Yasir Hameed, giving the optimists a glimmer of hope that Pakistan might just try and make a match of it.

It was Zaheer Khan who gave India the first breakthrough, a brilliant caught and bowled to remove Yasir Hameed.

Post that Pakistan went into a shell trying to bat out the overs. They lost their second wicket on the second delivery after lunch.

Anil Kumble picked up two wickets, including that of first innings centurion Akmal.

Munaf Patel removed another danger-man, Misbah ul Haq for six.

Earlier, India declared their second innings at 182 for four on the final day setting Pakistan a 345-run target.

On Day 5, India resumed at 141/2, leading Pakistan by 301 runs. The two batsmen at the crease MS Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly tried to up the tempo, but batting against Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami in the morning wasn't very easy.

Dhoni fell to Akhtar for 37. The Rawalpindi Express also dismissed Ganguly for 46.

India managed to add 43 to their overnight score before declaring at 184 for four.
