Chandigarh:

Kings XI Punjab is looking to move on from the slapgate controversy between Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth with its sights firmly set on future matches in the Indian Premier League competition.

The Mohali franchise had lodged a complaint against Harbhajan for slapping their player Sreesanth, and reacted cautiously today after the off-spinner was banned from playing in the lucrative Twenty20 tournament.

The team management issued a short press note, saying the squad just wanted to focus on the matches to come.

"The IPL has made its decision. With 10 matches to go in the IPL, Kings XI Punjab would like to focus on the future -- playing and winning its forthcoming games," the statement read.

"There will be no further comment on this matter," the statement added.

Harbhajan Singh was also fined 100 per cent of his match fees from the third match onwards while his Mumbai Indians coach Lalchand Rajput was fined 50 per cent for not stopping the off-spinner's assualt on Sreesanth.

The paceman was also warned that his aggression on the field of play would be taken seriously in future.

Kings XI Punjab had lodged the formal complaint against Harbhajan with the BCCI on Saturday and had criticised his conduct saying the team and management "consider this behaviour unacceptable and against the spirit of the game."
