Colombo:
Sri Lanka's top batsman and former captain Sanath Jayasuriya will be fit to play against India in the upcoming limited-overs series despite a freak water polo accident. Jayasuriya is recovering from a dislocated shoulder he incurred during a water polo game at the beach resort town of Bentota earlier in the week, cricket officials said on Thursday. "I can confirm such an accident has happened, but Sanath will be fit to play against India," Sri Lanka Cricket spokesman Ashoka Pathirana said. "We had some water sports in Bentota and unfortunately this accident happened," Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu was quoted by local media as saying. Atapattu said that the tour of India will assess how good his team is outside their own country. "We haven't been really tested for a long period of time and we haven't played seven one-dayers for a long time," Atapattu was quoted as saying by the state-run Daily News.
