Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya's bad run of form in the current one day series against India has now cost him a place in the three-Test series.

Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya's bad run of form in the current one-day series against India has now cost him a place in the three-Test series versus India beginning in the first week of December. The left-handed batsman has averaged just 14 in the 6 matches so far with a top score of 27. It's the first time since 1995 that Jayasuriya has been dropped from the Lankan Test squad. Jayasuriya has been suffering from a shoulder injury that has prevented him from bowling effectively in the series so far. Another surprise There's another surprise from the Lankan selectors as they named Chaminda Vaas as Vice-Captain ahead of the current incumbent Mahela Jayawardene. Russel Arnold, Upul Chandana, Nuwan Zoysa and Dilhara Lokuhettige will return home after Saturday's game to be replaced by Avishka Gunawardene, Malinga Bandara and Lasith Maling. The squad also has new faces in Sajeeva Weerakoon and Chamara Kapugedara. The Lankans will return home after Saturday's match and return at the end of the month for the first Test in Chennai from 2 December.
