The BCCI selection committee on Thursday decided to rest Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma for the one-dayers against Sri Lanka.

The BCCI selection committee on Thursday decided to rest Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma for the one-dayers against Sri Lanka. The lanky fast bowler, however, will be back for the Champions Trophy next month.

Under-19 skipper Virat Kohli got a maiden ODI call. Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary announced the 16-member squad for the ODI series starting August 18, and the Champions Trophy starting September 12 on behalf of the selection committee.

Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan, Piyush Chawla and Manpreet Gony have been left out while Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan are back in the side. Uthappa made way for Kohli after making just one fifty in his last twenty outings.

Harbhajan has made a comeback after serving a five-ODI ban, imposed on him by the BCCI for slapping teammate Sreesanth during the DLF-IPL. Parthiv Patel has also been included in the squad as an additional wicketkeeper.
