Ishant fined; India complain against Oz behaviour

Sydney:

Sydney has gone down into the history books for the Harbhajan-Symonds fiasco during the India-Australia Test series.

However, the ghosts of Sydney seems to get back to haunt the teams in the ODI series as well.

Andrew Symonds is involved again. Television replays show that Andrew Symonds said something to Ishant Sharma after the lanky Indian bowled Symonds out in Sunday's one-dayer in Sydney.

Sharma replied in kind, showing Symonds the way to the pavillion.

Ishant was called for a hearing on Monday morning and has been fined 15 per cent of his match fees.

He was charged for pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion in an aggressive manner by a bowler or other member of the fielding side upon the dismissal of a batsman.

The Indian team management and cricket board, while not lodging an official complaint against Symonds, has asked match referee Jeff Crowe to ask Australia to stop sledging. They claim Australian players have provoked Indian players over and over again.

Symonds has already been in the middle of an ugly controversy also involving Harbhajan Singh during the recently concluded Test Series, which at one point had looked as though it might put an end to the India's tour of Australia altogether.

Dhoni asked to change gloves

Ishant's wasn't the only one to be caught in a controversy on Sunday.

Skipper MS Dhoni is also reportedly in hot water for using illegal keeping gloves during the Sydney ODI.

Dhoni was asked to change the gloves as they appeared to be reinforced at the edges and with a loop, which are a breach of the ICC's regulations.

The Indian skipper was asked to change the gloves by match referee Jeff Crowe after he took a brilliant catch to dismiss Adam Gilchrist.

Crowe in fact rushed to the Indian dressing room as soon as he found out about the gloves and Dhoni was sent out a fresh pair.

The pair in question were taken by the match referee for further inspection.

Can a ban ensure that Aussie players don't indulge in sledging?
