IPL rescheduling unavoidable: Home Minister

P Chidambaram on Friday said that rescheduling the Indian Premier League completely is unavoidable as the dates of a few matches clash with the poll dates.

Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday said that rescheduling the Indian Premier League completely is unavoidable as the dates of a few matches clash with the Lok Sabha poll dates in various cities.

He, however, said that the government would try to help the Twenty20 league event to hold the matches.

In wake of Lahore attack on Sri Lankan players, Chidambaram said cricket was completely safe in India but IPL dates need to be reworked.

Meanwhile, the IPL and BCCI officials on Friday are meeting at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai to discuss the new IPL schedule.
